SHALLOWHALO
NYC-based electronic duo Shallowhalo, the project of producers Allyson Camitta and Ezra Tenenbaum, have racked up praise this year from outlets like Perfectly Imperfect, PAPER, NME, Nylon and more, following the release of their debut album, No Fun and pair of a few stand alone singles. Blending bits of 2000s electro, Italo disco and art pop, their latest single, “Decision of a Flower,'' pushes Shallowhalo’s synth-heavy bubblegum sound even further towards something that would be at home on one of Camitta’s late night DJ sets, while pointing towards the inventive pop of groups like Les Rita Mitsouko, Ladytron and Chris & Cosey. “He said he loves me, he loves me not— a little a lot, wish I could stop”, Camitta laments as she oscillates between exhilaration and exhaustion, deciding whether or not to throw in the towel on a fickle relationship while dropping tart heartbroken melodies like tears on the dance floor
